                 Different types of skin

1. How do I know what type of skin my skin is?

Knowing the characteristics of your skin allows you to provide it with appropriate care. On the face, there are three main types of skin.

If your face is shiny Constantly, you probably have oily skin.

If your skin is thin, sensitive, and a source of tightness after washing, you probably have dry skin.

If your skin is even, soft, smooth, and has few blemishes, it is of a so-called normal type.

If it is dry on the cheeks and temples, but rather oily in the midline (forehead, nose, chin), you most likely have combination skin.

If you are in doubt about the nature of your skin, you can perform the tissue paper test. It is practiced as follows:

- Cleanse and wipe your face.

- Wait half an hour, the time for the sebaceous glands to resume their activity.

- Apply vertically to the face two wide strips of tissue paper:

  • one on part of the midline of the face (nose, forehead, chin)
  • the other a hand against the cheek and temple.

Press without rubbing for a minute or two.

The status of the paper will tell you about the kind of your skin:

- if the two papers show significant traces: your skin is probably oily.

- if the paper affixed to the middle line shows oily marks, but the other does not, your skin is a combination.

- if the two papers contain few oily traces: your skin is normal.

- if none of them shows an oily mark: your skin is certainly dry.

This test just gives you a better idea of your skin type in the absence of injury or disease. Only a dermatologist can make a true diagnosis.
