5 ways to make a beautiful bun

Bun

No time to blow dry or straighten your hair? Opt for a beautiful bun: easy to make, it will also have an effect! It is often chosen by brides but today it has become more democratic and can be worn on short or long hair on all occasions. Several styles are available to you from the bohemian version to the sophisticated bun.

Also, remember that what is very beautiful about a bun is the look it gives to your face. Think about contradicting styles, like with the clothes and wear your smooth ballerina bun with jeans and a rocking leather jacket, or on the contrary, wear your sophisticated crystal jewelry with a deconstructed fuzzy bun. I will never tell you often enough: mix up styles!

1) Make a beautiful bun: the “bun”

bun

For medium to long hair:

The bun is an easy bun. This updo is for those with medium to long hair. It is made with a bun, you can find it in all brands such as H&M, Monoprix, Claire’s, or online at asos.com or topshop.com.
bun

The most important thing is to choose the bun that matches the color of your hair so that it disappears below your hair. You also need to remember not to buy a bun that's too big. Depending on the length of your hair, choose a small bun ideal for medium or fine hair. Instead, choose a medium-sized bun for longer or thicker hair. Do not fall into the bun that is too big in order to stay in natural proportions.

Bun

What you need:

  • From a bun,
  • A thin transparent elastic or the color of your hair
  • 8 to 10 bun pins
  • A hairbrush
  • Lacquer
To start, make a ponytail more or less high according to the rendering you want.
Then place the ponytail inside your bun and slide the bun where there is the elastic.
Distribute the hair evenly over the bun.
Brush your hair so it is straight and your hair is covering the bun well.
Divide the front hair into two parts, keeping the lengths on the bun, start to wrap your hair around the bun.
Finally, secure everything with bun pins all around the bun. Spray hairspray around the bun.
For short hair:
Making a beautiful bun is absolutely possible on short hair. Follow my tips to know how to achieve it.

For those with short hair, you don't need a bun but only:

  • A hairbrush
  • D an elastic
  •  8 to 10 bun pins
  •  Lacquer
If your hair is short and you don't know how to grow it back, I invite you to read my article 5 tips to activate hair growth.

The bun for short hair is the same technique as for long hair, except that the elastic is used as the bun. You should also try to find an elastic the same color as your hair. Depending on the thickness of your hair, choose a hair elastic that is larger or smaller. Thin hair can go for a thin elastic, thick hair can choose a larger elastic in a fabric material.
  1. Make a ponytail the height you want.
  2.  Distribute the hair while lowering your head slightly. The hair should be evenly distributed all around the elastic.
  3. Separate the wick that remains on top in half and wrap it around the elastic.
  4. Secure with bun clips and setting spray.

2) make a beautiful ballerina bun

This bun can be similar to the bun but has a more natural side. This bun is intended for those who have long hair, to see the medium length.

Bun

You can wear it strictly like in the dance world or have fun deconstructing it and blurring it. Depending on your desire for the day, the way to achieve it remains the same. For a slightly blurry rendering, you can simply deconstruct it at the end by making it looser.

Bun

Here is what you need:

  •  An elastic
  •  Lacquer
  •  Hair clips
  1. Start by straightening your hair by brushing it back.
  2. Then texturize hair with hairspray along the entire length.
  3. Take your lengths as if you were going to make a rather low ponytail. Be careful that your hair on the top is well plated.
  4. Place the elastic, you can hide this elastic by wrapping a section of the ponytail around it.
  5. Divide the tail into two parts, and start making a twist.
  6. Lacquer the twist and put the elastic on the end. Then roll the twist into a bun.
  7. Finally to fix the bun, place pins all around it.
You have a chic bun, ideal for a night out as well as for the beach. You can accessorize your bun by tying a colored scarf around your head and tie it under the neck for the beach or tie in the bun for a successful Brigitte Bardot style.

Bun

More sophisticated, you can come and dress it with an ornate elastic band or hair jewelry on the side. Don't hesitate to accessorize your bun. As I often say, accessories are very important and part of your look. Accessorizing your bun is less common than wearing a piece of jewelry, a trip to remember!

3) The “banana” bun

The banana bun is a classic of elegance. On a daily basis, it brings glamor to your look, you can also make it for an evening or a special occasion. It has this more sober side, less girlish than the other updos, and will be perfect to accompany your work outfit. Find out how to fit it into your work outfit without adopting a too classic or too strict look.

Bun

The advantage of this bun is that it slims and elongates the neck and therefore suits all figures. What could be sexier than an open neck?

This bun can be done with any length of hair. On short hair, you will need more pins to hide the small strands.

Bun

What you need:

  •  A comb
  • Bun pins
  •  Lacquer
If you have fine hair, you will need to texturize your hair by backcombing it and spraying a little hairspray to texturize it.

      Bun

  1. Place your hair back as if you were going to make a ponytail. Depending on your desire, place your parting on the side or in the middle.
  2. Then take your lengths in one hand and start wrapping the lengths firmly enough that the bun will hold.
  3. Roll up while raising the twist on your head. If you have any lengths left, you can wedge them in the hollow of the banana.
  4. To secure everything, use bun clips that you will place along the entire length of the bun.
  5. Then spray a little hairspray to hold everything together.

4) the braided bun

For a more romantic look with a bohemian touch, choose the braided bun. It is recommended to have long or medium hair in order to achieve this bun. There are many braided updos, here are two easy to do on your own.

Bun

The bun with two braids

What you need:

  •  A comb and a hairbrush
  •  Bun pins
  •  A fine elastic in the color of your hair
Bun

  1. Parting on the side, low enough, and brush your hair well.
  2. Start the first braid on the side where you have the most hair. The braid should take the entire length of the hair and start from the root. To do it, gradually take strands on the side, this is called an African braid.
  3. Secure the braid at the back with a pin.
  4. On the other side, make a simple braid and put the elastic at the end. Don’t try to finish it too fancy, let loose strands escape!
  5. With the first braid and your lengths make a fairly low bun without using the smallest braid you just made.
  6. Secure with pins then take the small braid and wrap it around the bun, secure it also with pins.
Bun

The bun with three braids

What you need:

  •  A comb and a hairbrush
  •  Bun pins
  • 3 elastic bands
You can keep your parting in the middle for this hairstyle.

Bun

  • Part your hair into three parts. The middle part should be thicker than the sides.
  • Make a braid with the middle part and tie it with a rubber band.
  • Wrap it around itself to make a bun and secure it with bun pins.
  • Then make two braids on the sides. The braids should be facing back.
  • Cross the two braids at the back above the bun and wrap them around it.
Bun

Depending on the result you want, braid more or less tight. For a more natural hairstyle, do loose braids, for a more sophisticated look, tighten your braids and make them stand out by pulling lightly on the sides of each braiding.

5) the bun with a wand

The bun with a baguette will bring an Asian touch to your outfit. It exists today in the chopsticks, more than the simple pencil see rather….

Bun

This look is easy to achieve and is best suited for fine hair. You can place the wand as you wish: strictly or fuzzier.

   Bun

What you need:

  • A hairbrush
  • One, see two chopsticks
For this hairstyle, you can make a parting on the side or in the middle.

  1. Take your lengths to make a bun.
  2. Hold your bun and take your wand, tuck it down and to one side of the bun, then turn it down as much as you can then pull it up towards the skull with the base facing down.
  3. You can leave your bun like this or place a second wand through your bun from the opposite side.
In all bun examples, spray your hairspray 30 cm away to avoid damaging your hair, and brush it well at night to let your hair breathe.

Do you wear updos on a daily basis? The bun is just as pretty sophisticated as a little 'undone, it goes with all styles of clothing, so think about it!
