Highlights and balayage: What are the differences between them
You want to bring relief to your hair with color, but you hesitate between highlights or a sweep ... To help you in your choice, we have deciphered for you the main differences between these two coloring techniques.
Balayage: natural and discreet
It corresponds to a Contrast at Jean Louis David. It is a partial coloring all in nuances, which consists of dyeing certain parts of the hair with fine strands. The highlights blend into your initial color to give your lengths a boost and ideally highlight your cut. It is perfect for warming up a brunette or making blonde hair shiny. However, it is not recommended for redheads because such an intense color remains quite difficult to shade. In addition, it adapts to all lengths and textures: it will create depth on curly or frizzy hair, while it will give an impression of volume to smooth or fine hair.
The wicks: visible and pronounced
This technique also consists of creating highlights to illuminate your hair. However, the colored strands are much wider and bolder than a balayage to create more contrast with your base. The result can still be natural: it's up to you to choose the intensity of your locks. This coloring is recommended if you want to give more character to your color, without changing it at all. Our advice: avoid too strong color differences, such as blonde highlights on brown hair, as the result may lack elegance.
For what interview?
Sweeping does not require a lot of maintenance. It is a very contrasting color. However, make an appointment with your hairdresser every 3 months to boost its shine. Regarding the wicks, you will have to touch them up more frequently so that the demarcations are not too visible. Finally, whatever your choice: pamper your hair with the products of the Go Color ritual to keep hair shiny, luminous, and in full vitality.
